God is Moving in Colombia

Here’s a brief update of what God is doing through our amazing missionaries in Colombia….

During Christmas time over 400 gifts were given to kids through the program “Mi Regalo.” This is a ministry of the Word, Bread, Fish Foundation, which ministers and reaches out to impoverished areas of Medellin. Many of the donors do not attend Christian churches, yet are getting involved through donations to serve the poor. Praise God!

Heavy rains in December left many countries in Central and Northern South America experiencing flooding and landslides. CFCI-Colombia was able to assist in the rescue of almost 100 victims from the neighborhood La Gabriela, located in Northern Medellin. They were also able to establish a team of young people who collected food and clothing. Please continue to pray for the victims of the flooding.

The Word, Bread, Fish Foundation is giving hope to the poorest communities of Medellin, Colombia. In the Barrio La Cruz, the Foundation is working to expand their Casa Azul or Blue House… which means a place of security in Colombian culture. For 6 years now they have been focusing their efforts on evangelism, education, recreation, culture, financial and material help. This year they are working to expand their ministry in Barrio La Cruz to build a better site for the ministry.

Colombia Mission Trip

Christ For the City International is now opening up a team to Medellin, Colombia.

Country: Medellin, Colombia
Dates: April 8-17, 2010
Cost: $610 plus airfare, covers in-country ground transportation, meals, lodging, travel insurance and debrief. Must have valid passport.

Description: Team members will join a small group from the Christian Life Center Church of Chicago in Medellin, Colombia to work with CFCI missionaries. Team members will work with our ministry Palabra, Pan y Pez (Word, Bread, Fish). The trip will involve construction on our children’s center, where feeding programs and tutoring take place. Participants will also have the opportunity be involved with children’s classes as well as a pastor’s seminar and/or women’s seminar.

That the World May Know

I cannot believe it- September is more than half over with!! I am amazed at how time flies by so quickly. For the remainder of this month, we will be checking out two CFCI events, Operacion Luz and Gospel Park! For the third year now, Operacion Luz will reach out to the youth of Tijuana and beyond on Halloween with a bag of candy and a message of the Gospel. Gospel Park, a one day music festival also in it’s third year, drew 19 bands and over 18,000 youth.
